The Kentucky Animal Care And Control Association was Incorporated in March, 1988, by people working at the Jefferson County Animal Control And Protection Agency. Our goals were and still are to educate support professionals working in animal control and welfare. Since then, our organization and it’s members through their efforts, have seen the state advisory board formed, shelter standards established, and our yearly conference continues to provide affordable education and training for members of our field across the state. We have two seats on the state advisory board, and KACCA member is now the chairperson. Through this board, funds are made available to shelters and counties to help with their animal care and control programs. In 2002, our members helped to get the felony cruelty bill passed and the spay / neuter license plate program established. Also, the legislature, approved the largest amount of grant money ever for the state advisory board to award to organizations to improve their programs. We as a State must move forward and make this an issue of importance!
